By the titel, you can pretty much guess what I'm going to talk about. But first of all, YES, I finally have one of those delicious PSP. Slim version, but it works! HAHA NOW I CAN PLAY EVEN MOAR GAMES.
Anyway.
Crisis Core, released 2007, is known to be the prequel to Final Fantasy VII and also starring the awesome and spectacular Zack Fair as we travel to see what truly happened 7 years prior the original game. Within the important cast members, we have some familiar faces like Cloud, Aerith and Sephiroth. New faces, like Angeal and Genesis(although he was present in Dirge of Cerberus), makes the game even better.
While I would like to talk about the story, it would be too long and too boring for you. So I will just bring out some important stuff instead.
The first significant of the story is the bigger impact Wutai has. During this time, Wutai is at war with Shinra and therefore, Wutai is your starting enemy. So basically, you get your ass over there and kick some Wutai ass with Yuffie making cameo appearance. Oh and Angeal and Genesis goes missing and you're like "Well I know who my main villain is now!"
The story continues with Genesis, Sephiroth and Angeal talking about how they were best of friends and how they used to fight. And now they're all trying to kill each other(except Sephiroth, he said he'll fail to kill them. How nice of him). There is more of this bullshit until you finally kill both Angeal and Genesis. Hurray!
Now Zack changes sword(BUSTAH SWORDDDDDDDDD) and haircut. Nice change might I say, but there is no additional attack damage or anything. Just a bigger sword. Oh well, at least it is the Buster Sword. Anyway, now Cissnei is like "Yeah so Genesis is still alive and you need to stop him and Hollander."
And you're all "Eff you!" and she's like "Dude I'm in a bikini for you." and then you say "OK I'm sold." because you're a dumb ass. Anyway, you get a ride from Tseng and Cissnei to Junon where you end up fighting some Genesis clones once more and well, you end up failing. Thus you're sent to Nibelheim.
And we all know what happens there so FAST FORWARD. After the incident Zack wakes up and punches a scientist out cold. Then he dresses Cloud up as a SOLDIER FIRST CLASS (because Cloud has mako addiction haha). Anyway, more bullshit happens, you find Genesis and beat his arse up and then...
You die.
No shit.
But the ending is so damn good that I forgive them for killing Zack. I really do. Sure, the voice acting ain't the best and Cloud's yell could have been better, but I'll live.
I'll live.
As for the gameplay, it's pretty smooth. It's like Kingdom Hearts, only that it seems a tad more limited. Well at least you get that fancy DMW, which destroys EVERYTHING WHEN YOU ACHIEVE ZANTETSUKEN. Odin ftw. But once you get the Costly Punch, the game just get so much easier. The damn thing takes 99 999 damage on every hit.
I mean I managed to defeat Minerva in less than ten minutes thanks to the set-up I had! Argh.
But what this game need is some variation. I mean, there are 300 side-missions, if not more, that all have the same thing. Go from spot A to spot B to kill monster and finish mission.
It's... just lame after awhile. Dx
Oh well, at least I finished the game 100%. Now let's see if I can bother to complete it in Hard Mode or if I should try out any of my other games. Like Tales of Eternia.
Anyway, if you have a PSP, I recommend you buy Crisis Core. It's lot of fun, even if it gets repetitive after awhile. GIT IT NAO.
